Tachat Poghosian

Born in 1905 in Haftvan Salmast, he  completed his elementary studies in his birthplace and was sent to the  Gevorkian Seminary in Etchmiadzin, Armenia, but due to the First World  War, young Tachat had to return to Iran, and continued his education at  the Kentronakan Armenian School of Tabriz. He taught in Haftvan, at the  Adventist Missionary School in Tabriz, the Kananian School in Isfahan,  and the Kouhshesh-Davtian School in Tehran. He also founded and directed  the co-ed Hoor Elementary School, developed curricula, and wrote  Armenian language and history textbooks for elementary and secondary  education.  In addition, he was the publisher of a literary and  scientific review Navasard, and co-published Louys magazine with Hovsep  Tadeosian and Hambartsoum Grigorian. Mr. Poghosian was an influential  educator, literary critic, investigative journalist, editor in chief of  Alik Armenian newspaper, and the founder and producer of the  sought-after Raffi wall calendar, which to this day, serves as one of  the anchors of the Iranian Armenian community. Tachat Poghosian Passed  away in 1980 in Tehran.
