Sevana Salmasi

Sevana Salmasi  is an Austrian-Armenian Opera Singer originally from Salmast, Iran. 

Sevana   was discovered at the early age of 13 through the Armenian Church  Choir.  At the age of 17, Sevana was accepted to the University of Music  and performing Arts in Vienna and completed her studies by earning a  master’s degree in Arts. After completing her Master in Arts, she  continued her education and specialized in Lied and Oratorio. She  studied under the well known opera singer Marjana Liposek.

Sevana  is not only a young successful soloist, she also earned numerous awards  at International Vocal Competitions (2nd prize and audience choice  award at H. Strecker Competition in Austria, Supporting Prize at the  Ferruccio Tagliavini Vocal Competition in Deutschlandsberg, Winner of  Opera Buffs in Los Angeles, Finalist of Domingo/Thornton Young Artists  in Los Angeles, Lied-prize at Ada Sari Vocal Competition in Poland, and  so on).

The highlights of Sevana Salmasi’s career on stage have  been (1) the leading role as merry widow at the Salzburger  Festspielhaus, (2) the role of Micaela in Carmen at the International  Opera festival in St. Margarethen/Austria, (3) the role of Rosalinde in  Moscow/Russia at the renowned Tschaikowsky Hall, (4) Operetta Tour at  Tokyo City Opera in Japan.

In the year of 2011, Sevana was  awarded a full scholarship from USC (University Southern California) in  order to teach voice and to study towards a doctorate in vocal arts.  From 2013, Sevana again is residing in Vienna/Austria were she  successfully continues her career as opera singer and vocal teacher.
